Our Story
How KS International School Came to Be
From our founding under a prestigious university to our bold rebrand — the story of KS International School is one of growth, vision, and unwavering commitment to educational excellence.
Founded as AIU-Irsyad International School (AIIS)
The school was established on 23 October 2015 through a strategic collaboration, commencing operations in January 2016. From the start, the institution shared the mission of serving humanity through education — offering a Cambridge-certified international curriculum in Alor Setar, Kedah.
Renamed to AIU International School (AIUIS)
Following strategic realignments, the school transitioned from AIU-Irsyad International School (AIIS) to AIU International School (AIUIS) — a focused identity that better reflected its growing international community and academic ambitions.
Strategic Focus on Primary Excellence
A focused decision was made to dedicate resources solely to strengthening primary academics — building a strong, rigorous foundation in Cambridge Primary that would later support the school's expansion into secondary education.
ICAS Gold Medal Recognition
The school earned Gold Medal Winner School status for the 2020 ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) — ranking among Malaysia's top performers across Mathematics, Science, English, and Digital Technologies. A landmark moment demonstrating the school's academic excellence.
Secondary Education Relaunched
Building upon a strong foundation in primary education, the school relaunched its secondary education with Year 7 in September 2025 — extending the Cambridge International journey into Lower Secondary and beyond.
Rebranded to Knowledge Sustainability International School
Achieving its definitive identity in October 2025, the school rebranded to Knowledge Sustainability International School — known as KS International School. KSIS now stands for Knowledge and Sustainability, positioning the institution to uphold its guiding principles while inspiring excellence and responsible global citizenship across both primary and secondary levels.
